Soil and Water Conversation District Annual Membership Banquet
Newton County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting its Annual Membership Banquet on April 25, 2023, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at ECCC cafeteria. This year’s guest speaker will be Mr. Mike McCormick, President of Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation.
If anyone plans to attend the banquet, please contract our office for a membership registration form. Forms need to be turned in by April 3, 2023. The Banquet ticket is considered to be the membership with NCSWCD.

Used Book Sale at Union Public Library
The used book sale continues until the end of the month at the Union (MS) Public Library. This sale features a large number of faith-based books from the collection of the late Bro. Kevin Meador. All proceeds raised support additional year-round programs provided by our libraries in Decatur, DeKalb, Newton, Scooba and Union. Newton County Retired Educators Meeting
The Newton County Retired Educators will meet on Thursday, April 27, at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Decatur United Methodist Church. The guest speaker will be Senator Tyler McCaughn and Representative Randy Rushing. All retired educators and support personnel are invited to attend.
3rd Annual Nolan Riley Norris Co-Ed Softball Tournament
The 3rd Annual Nolan Riley Norris Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be on Saturday, April 29, at the ball fields located at 1001 East Jackson Road in Union. The first game will start at 7 a.m. The entry Fee is $220. A Homerun Card is $25. Teams can be made up of 6/4 or 7/3 Co-Ed plus 1 EH. All proceeds go towards the Nolan Riley Norris Memorial Scholarship. To register or for any questions, contact Lisa at 985-290-2661.
Nolan Norris Memorial Cornhole Tournament
The Nolan Norris Memorial Cornhole Tournament will take place on Saturday, April 29, at the ball fields at 1001 East Jackson Road in Union. Bags will fly at 10 a.m. BYOP and Blind Draw. Entry fee is $40 per team BYOP. $10 for Blind Draw. 50% of the winnings will go to the Nolan Norris Memorial Scholarship Fund, while the remaining 50% goes to the players. There will be food, bounce houses, face painting and other activities included. Come spend your Saturday with us and support a good cause. For any questions, contact Wesley Day!
