Newton County Retired Educators Meeting
The Newton County Retired Educators will meet on Thursday, April 27, at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Decatur United Methodist Church. The guest speaker will be Senator Tyler McCaughn and Representative Randy Rushing. All retired educators and support personnel are invited to attend.
Newton County High School Theater’s Production of “Just Another High School Play”
The Newton County High School Theater Class production of “Just Another High School Play” will be showing on April 27 and 28, with both shows starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, or any donation.
3rd Annual Nolan Riley Norris Co-Ed Softball Tournament
The 3rd Annual Nolan Riley Norris Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be on Saturday, April 29, at the ball fields located at 1001 East Jackson Road in Union. The first game will start at 7 a.m. All proceeds go towards the Nolan Riley Norris Memorial Scholarship. For any questions, contact Lisa at 985-290-2661.
Nolan Norris Memorial Cornhole Tournament
The Nolan Norris Memorial Cornhole Tournament will take place on Saturday, April 29, at the ball fields at 1001 East Jackson Road in Union. Bags will fly at 10 a.m. BYOP and Blind Draw. Entry fee is $40 per team BYOP. $10 for Blind Draw. 50% of the winnings will go to the Nolan Norris Memorial Scholarship Fund, while the remaining 50% goes to the players. There will be food, bounce houses, face painting and other activities included. Come spend your Saturday with us and support a good cause. For any questions, contact Wesley Day!
Used Book Sale at Union Public Library
The used book sale continues until the end of the month at the Union (MS) Public Library. This sale features a large number of faith-based books from the collection of the late Bro. Kevin Meador. All proceeds raised support additional year-round programs provided by our libraries in Decatur, DeKalb, Newton, Scooba and Union. Food Truck and Bake Sale Fundraiser in FBC Union Parking Lot
A group of local homeschool students will have a fundraiser with a Bake Sale and T&J Concessions Food Truck on May 1, from 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., in the Union First Baptist parking lot. Proceeds of the fundraiser will go to First Baptist Church for allowing us to use the facilities and homeschool classes.
Union High School Joint Class Reunion for Classes of 1957-60
Union High School Classes of 1957-60 are having a Joint Class Reunion on Monday, May 1, at the Family Life Center of New Ireland Baptist Church in Union. It will begin at 10 a.m., and lunch will be served at 12 p.m. for a cost of $25 per person. If you’re unable to attend, please send an update. We would love to hear from you!

East Central MS Fellowship of Christian Athletes 1st Annual Night of Champions
The East Central Mississippi Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold its 1st annual Night of Champions on Saturday, May 6th, at 6:30 PM in The Huff Auditorium on the campus of East Central Community College.
We will be celebrating 36 students (2 from each of the 18 high schools within our area) as champions of character. These students have been nominated by coaches and school staff as being students that have proven themselves in the areas of character and integrity on and off the field. We will also be honoring a coach with the Jake Nester Coach of the Year Award.
This year’s keynote speaker is James Williams, who is a graduate of Hickory High School and East Central Community College and currently serves as Coordinator of Life Enrichment & Team Chaplain of the Tennessee Titans.
