The Union Public School District Board will meet on Monday, July 17, at 6 p.m. at the Central Office.
Newton County Extension Office’s Time Out Tuesday-It’s Teatime
Join us on July 18 at 10 a.m., where participants will gain knowledge on the types of teas, when to drink tea and the perfect time for tea to relieve stress. You will also learn how to arrange a tea service and enjoy light refreshments while learning more about tea. Space is limited. Please call 601-635-7011 to register. Open to ages 14 to adults.

Multi-County Community Service Agency holding a Public Hearing in Newton
The Multi-County Community Service Agency Inc. will hold a public hearing in Newton County for the 2024 Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) and the 2024 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) on July 20. The hearing will be held at City Hall, located at 203 East Church Street in Newton, beginning at 10 a.m. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss planned changes in the CSBG and LIHEAP programs for 2024. All interested person in Newton County are encouraged to attend.
Newton County FFA Community Day and Farmer’s Market
The Newton County FFA will host their FFA Community Day and Farmer’s Market on July 22 and August 26, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Newton County Career Center located at 15935 MS-15 in Decatur.
We will have vendors selling fresh produce and other products, as well as concessions and entertainment. Please come out and support our hard-working FFA members.

Dearing Family Reunion
The Robert and Martha Dearing Family Reunion will be at the Union Community Center on Sunday, July 23, from 10 a.m.-until. The Union Community Center is located at 110 Park Street in Union.
Newton County Extension Office’s Time Out Tuesday-Charcuterie Board Bingo
Join us on July 25 for Charcuterie Board Bingo. Two sessions will be offered that day: 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Participants will learn the importance of a balanced nutritional diet while designing a charcuterie board. Afterwards, participants will snack and lay a fun game of bingo to win prizes. Registration fee is $10. Please call 601-635-7011 to register. Open to ages 14 to adults.
ATV Safety Course hosted by the Newton County Extension Office
The Newton County Extension office will host an ATV Safety Course on July 26 in Newton County. There will be morning and afternoon sessions. Spots are limited and must be reserved ahead of time by calling the Extension Office at 601-0635-7011.
NCHS Football Friday Night Lights Kickoff Banquet
Newton County Football is looking forward to our Friday Night Lights Kick Off Banquet on August 5. Our guest speaker will be the new Head Football Coach at East Central Community College, Coach Jonathan Webster.
Tickets will be $25 ($10 for players) and will include a meal and silent auction.
