Newton County Historical and Genealogical Society Meeting
The Newton County Historical and Genealogical Society will have their regular monthly meeting on Aug. 12, starting at 10 a.m., at the Multi-Purpose Room at the Department of Human Services across Highway 15 from Dollar General.
After the business meeting, Charlie Harrison, Larry Blackburn, Ronnie Blass, and Gary Thorne will be entertaining us with some good “foot pattin’” music and some of their great stories.
It’s a Send-Off for the Queen
Hands of God Worship Center, located at 1562 W. Church Street in Newton, is hosting a send-off for Mrs. Mississippi American, Mrs. Tiara Brown on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 1:30-3 p.m. Please come and extend your support as she leaves to represent Mississippi in the National Competition to be held in Las Vegas, NV.
Door Prizes will be given as well as an opportunity to get a photo with the Queen.
Newton County NAACP Meeting
The Newton County Branch of NAACP will hold a very important meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. at the Third New Hope Building in Newton. Membership renewals and new memberships will be done at this meeting. Everyone is encouraged to attend and give your input into the future direction of the Newton County NAACP.
