Newton County Historical & Genealogical Society Meeting
The September meeting will be on September 9, 2023 at the Historical Hoye House in Newton.
Members will meet at the Hoye House location at 10:00 O’clock Saturday morning. Mrs. Dot Turnage will be in charge of the program and will be presenting interesting facts and local stories about this historical site.
Rhodes Family Reunion

Deadline for Disaster Loan Applications
The U.S. Small Business Administration is Reminding Mississippi small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations that Sept. 11, 2023 is the filing deadline for federal Economic Injury Disaster Loan applications due to excessive rain and flooding that occurred Aug. 1-31, 2022.
Disaster loan information and application forms can also be obtained by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services) or sending an email to DisasterCustomerService@sba.gov. Loan applications can also be downloaded from sba.gov/disaster. Completed applications should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Sip27
The Newton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Sip27 on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at 138 West Broad Street in Decatur.

Tickets on sale for “Oklahoma!” at the Roxy in Newton
The Newton Theatre Company will present their fall musical production of “Oklahoma!” on Sept. 23 and 30 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 24 and Oct.r 1 at 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $15 and children ages 12 and under are $10. T-Bones Gospelooza 1st Annual Arts and Music Festival
T-Bones Steakhouse in Union will be hosting their 1st Annual Gospelooza Arts and Music Festival on October 14 from 2-9 p.m. Free entry and candy for the kids! There will be delicious food, arts and crafts, live music, holy sock puppets, ministry fair, and guest speakers. With worship by: Given Grace, Sandtown Church Praise Team, and the Between the Banks Band.

2023 Christmas Craft Fair at the McElroy-Hoye House
The Historic McElroy-Hoye House will host their 2023 Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. There will be concessions, specialty coffees, desserts, salads, and more.

Newton County Soil and Water Wildlife Expo
The Newton County Soil and Water Conversation District invites you to their Wildlife Expo at the American Legion Hut on November 2. The event is free to attend!
The program will be Pond Management and the Speaker will be Russell Singleton, who is a Wildlife Biologist. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
A meal will be offered for $15 per plate, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The meal will consist of Fish or Chicken, Fries, Hushpuppies, Corn Fritters, Cole Slaw, dessert, and a drink.
There will also be door prizes, a silent auction and a raffle drawing.
The American Legion Hut is located at Highway 15 South in Decatur.
