Extension Office hosts Dairy Recipe Contest
The Mississippi State University Extension Service staff is celebrating Dairy Month by hosting a Dairy Dessert Recipe Contest on Thursday, June 13. All members of the Newton County community are invited to enter!
Each dessert or casserole must have a minimum of 1-cup of dairy product, but more is acceptable. Dairy products are milk, cheese, yogurt, and butter (cannot contain raw eggs in the final product). Please enter 1 dish. Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each division.
Check in at the Newton County Extension Office in Decatur (65 7th Street) between 10 – 10:30 a.m. on June 13. A printed or typed copy of the recipe on letter size paper (8 1/2 x 11) must accompany the dish. Print the participants name and division on the back of the recipe. Judging will begin at 10:45 a.m. There are two divisions: Youth (5-17) and Adult (18 +). Announcements of the winners and tasting will begin at 12 noon. Newton County Farmer’s Market
The Newton County Farmer’s Market, hosted by the Newton County Extension Service, Newton County Board of Supervisors, and the City of Newton, is set to return to ESCO Park on June 15, June 20, July 5, July 20, August 3, and August 17. Hickory Pick’n Flea Market Craft Show, Concert, and Outdoor Movie-Rescheduled to June 15
Hickory Pick’n Flea Market in Hickory will host a Craft Show beginning at 10 a.m. on June 15. Beginning at 5:30 that afternoon, Rydan Media and Sonshine Ministries will put on a free concert and an outdoor showing of the movie “Losing Hope: Finding Grace”.

Turkey Creek Independence Day Fireworks Show
The Turkey Creek Independence Day Fireworks Show will take place on July 3 at 9 p.m. $10 per car. Chairs and blankets are encouraged.
Sip and Stitch hosted at Union Public Library
The Union Public Library will host Sip and Stitch on the fourth Tuesday of each month between the hours of 2-5 p.m. Sip and Stitch is a casual gathering of hand crafters.
