Ice Cream Recipe Contest hosted by Extension Office
In honor of Dairy Month, the Newton County Extension Office hosting an Ice Cream Recipe Contest on Thursday, June 27. All members of the Newton County community are invited to enter!
Each ice cream entry must have a minimum of 1-cup of dairy product, but more is acceptable. Only one entry is allowed. Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each division. There are two divisions: Youth (5-17) and Adult (18 +).
Check in at the Newton County Extension Office in Decatur (65 7th Street) between 10 -10:30 a.m. on June 27. A printed copy of the recipe on letter size paper (8 1/2 x 11) must accompany the ice cream. Print the participants name and division on the back of the recipe. Judging will begin at 10:45 a.m. Announcement of winners and tasting will begin at 12 noon. Newton County Cattlemen’s Association Meeting
Please join us for the Newton County Cattlemen’s Association Meeting on Thursday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Coastal Plains Experimental Station, located at 51 Plains Road in Newton. Call us at 601-635-7011 if you plan to attend so that we may plan the meal.

Newton County Farmer’s Market
The Newton County Farmer’s Market at ESCO Park will take place on Saturday, June 29, from 7-11 a.m. Future Farmer’s Markets are also scheduled for July 5, July 20, August 3, and August 17. Turkey Creek Independence Day Fireworks Show
The Turkey Creek Independence Day Fireworks Show will take place on July 3 at 9 p.m. $10 per car. Chairs and blankets are encouraged.
Newton State Dairy Show
Join us for the Annual Dairy Show at the Newton Showbarn on August 2. Open to the public, the show will feature cattle from across the state. Come and enjoy the cows and the kids that have worked so hard with them. The Newton Showbarn is locate at 615 Coliseum Drive in Newton.
Sip and Stitch hosted at Union Public Library
The Union Public Library will host Sip and Stitch on the fourth Tuesday of each month between the hours of 2-5 p.m. Sip and Stitch is a casual gathering of hand crafters.
