City of Newton Citizens Forum on Public Safety
The City of Newton will host a Citizens Forum on Thursday, July 18, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Newton Depot. The topic of the discussion will be Public Safety: How we can work together to create a safer community.
All attendees are asked to maintain a respectful demeanor. Personal attacks, shouting, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

Newton County Farmer’s Market
The Newton County Farmer’s Market at ESCO Park will take place on Saturday, July 20, from 7-11 a.m. Future Farmer’s Markets are also scheduled for August 3, and August 17. Nicholson Family Reunion

Multi-County Community Service Agency holding a Public Hearing in Newton
The Multi-County Community Service Agency Inc. will hold a public hearing in Newton County for the 2025 Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) and the 2025 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. The hearing will be held at the Newton Office located at 401 3rd Ave in Newton MS. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss the Agency’s policy and changes in the CSBG and LIHEAP programs for 2025. All interested persons in Newton County are encouraged to attend or if you have any questions, please feel to call 601-483-4838 Monday -Friday or 601-683-2733 on Tuesday.
Newton State Dairy Show
Join us for the Annual Dairy Show at the Newton Showbarn on August 2. Open to the public, the show will feature cattle from across the state. Come and enjoy the cows and the kids that have worked so hard with them. The Newton Showbarn is located at 615 Coliseum Drive in Newton.
Newton County School Open House
Open House for Newton County Schools is set for Monday, Aug. 5, from 3-6 p.m.., with the school start beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Sip and Stitch hosted at Union Public Library
The Union Public Library will host Sip and Stitch on the fourth Tuesday of each month between the hours of 2-5 p.m. Sip and Stitch is a casual gathering of hand crafters.
