The Newton Chamber of Commerce “A Merry Newton Christmas” Events
Join us for a festive Christmas season in Newton! The Newton Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade is scheduled for Dec. 5 at 5 p.m., followed by a Christmas Celebration after the parade. Visit the Historic McElroy-Hoye House for our Tour of Trees on Dec. 7, from 5-7 p.m.
Christmas in Decatur
It’s almost time for Christmas celebrations to being in Decatur! Make sure to mark your calendars for the upcoming events: The Decatur Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is scheduled for Dec. 6 at 6 p.m., and Christmas Around the Courthouse is scheduled for Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Town of Hickory Christmas Parade
The Hickory Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. There are no charges or forms required to take part in the parade. If you’d like to join the parade, be there for lineup at 1 p.m.
“An American Christmas” 2024 Christmas Parade in Lake
The 2024 Christmas Parade in Lake will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4:30 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “An American Christmas Parade”, where entries will reflect their patriotism and represent the Red, White, and Blue.
Post-Parade Christmas Fun at the Lake Fire Department
After the Lake Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 7, come by the Lake Fire Department for photos with The Grinch and to write letters to Santa at the Santa Letter Station. Hot Cocoa will be available for purchase. The fire station will open at 6 p.m. Donation of unwrapped children’s clothing and toys will be accepted for Operation Santa’s Station will be accepted. Gift cards will be accepted.
Christmas at The Roxy
It’s time to celebrate and get into the spirit of the season as the Newton Theatre Company presents “Christmas at The Roxy” on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. Admission to the event is one (or more) can of food for the Hickory Food Pantry Food Drive. Several local performers are scheduled to perform. The Roxy Theatre is located at 126 E. Church Street in Downtown Newton.
Newton County 4-H Shooting Sports Interest Meeting
Parents who wish to get their children involved in 4-H competitive target shooting are invited to attend an Interest Meeting on Dec. 10 at the Coastal Plains Research Station in Newton at 6 p.m. The Coastal Plains Research Station is located at 51 Coastal Plains Road in Newton.

Decatur Christmas Decorating Contest
Christmas time is near, and we want our town to get in the Christmas Spirit. The Decatur Woman’s Progressive Club is once again holding a Christmas Lights Competition for residents and businesses inside the city limits of Decatur. This is the perfect time to showcase your creativity and earn the bragging rights! Judging will take place on Dec. 12-14. Categories will be Business and Residential, with cash prizes for 1st-3rd place in both categories. Judging will take place on Dec. 12-14, and winners will be announced on Dec. 16. So come on Decatur, let’s make our town shine!
Sock Drive for Local Senior Adults
The Newton Chamber of Commerce is Slipping into the Holidays by hosting a Sock Drive for Local Senior Adults. From Oct 3-Dec. 12, Donators can drop off their sock at the Chamber Office, located at 128 South Main Street in Newton. All donations will be distributed to congregate residents.
Auditions for Newton Theatre Companies Youth Production of “The Canterville Ghost”
The Newton Theatre Company is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming youth production of “The Canterville Ghost”, by Tim Kelly. All those who audition must currently be in the 6th – 12th grades and will be asked to cold-read from a script. The play calls for 14 girls and 6 boys. Audition dates are set for Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Roxy Theatre in Downtown Newton.
