Christmas Around the Courthouse in Decatur
You’re invited to Downtown Decatur on Saturday, Dec. 14, to Christmas Around the Courthouse, beginning at 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be all sorts of free activities, including games, ornament making, painting gingerbread houses, a mini cake walk, cookie decorating, pictures with the Grinch and Santa Claus, live entertainment, and many more fun Christmas activities.
Paid activities and events for the day include Pancakes with Santa for $10 per person, Face Painting for $5, and Horse-Drawn Buggy Rides for $10 per person.
Decatur Christmas Decorating Contest
Christmas time is near, and we want our town to get in the Christmas Spirit. The Decatur Woman’s Progressive Club is once again holding a Christmas Lights Competition for residents and businesses inside the city limits of Decatur. This is the perfect time to showcase your creativity and earn the bragging rights! Judging will take place on Dec. 12-14. Categories will be Business and Residential, with cash prizes for 1st-3rd place in both categories. Judging will take place on Dec. 12-14, and winners will be announced on Dec. 16. So come on Decatur, let’s make our town shine!
Sock Drive for Local Senior Adults
The Newton Chamber of Commerce is Slipping into the Holidays by hosting a Sock Drive for Local Senior Adults. From Oct 3-Dec. 12, Donators can drop off their sock at the Chamber Office, located at 128 South Main Street in Newton. All donations will be distributed to congregate residents.
Auditions for Newton Theatre Companies Youth Production of “The Canterville Ghost”
The Newton Theatre Company is excited to announce auditions for our upcoming youth production of “The Canterville Ghost”, by Tim Kelly. All those who audition must currently be in the 6th – 12th grades and will be asked to cold-read from a script. The play calls for 14 girls and 6 boys. Audition dates are set for Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Roxy Theatre in Downtown Newton. Union Christmas Parade
The Union Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Entry deadline is Dec. 13 at noon. To enter the parade, visit the Union Chamber of Commerce, Mississippi Facebook page and click the 2024 Union Christmas Parade Google Docs link or pick up entry forms at Astoria Clothing and Gifts, Blaze and Ribbon Boutique, The Citizens Bank, Piggly Wiggly, or The Glam Room.
Collinsville Christmas 2024: A Full Day of Festive Fun
The Collinsville Christmas Association invites everyone to join in the holiday festivities for Collinsville Christmas 2024 on Saturday, Dec. 14! The day begins with Breakfast with Santa from 8-10 a.m. Enjoy a magical Breakfast with Santa at the Collinsville Fire & Rescue station. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, a chance for little ones to meet Santa Claus himself, and a digital photo download. Tickets are available for purchase at bit.ly/CollinsvilleSantaBreakfast2024.
The day continues with the Holiday Market from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., where shoppers can browse for gifts and support local artisans at our Holiday Market.
There will also be a Kids Zone and Touch-a-Truck from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., where kids can enjoy a variety of free activities, including petting animals, exploring big trucks, emergency vehicles, and other impressive equipment.
The day ends with the Collinsville Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. This year’s parade theme is “Light of the World”—so expect a dazzling array of lights, vibrant float themes, and creative holiday storytelling! The parade begins at 6:00 pm.

Bring the family for a fun evening on Broad Street in Decatur on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 5-8 p.m. Grab a ticket and have it punched at each participating store for your ticket on the Polar Express Train (float). Spend $20 at one of the participating stores for your entry into the Bubble Dome and a chance to win a prize! There will be hot chocolate and 100% chance of snow!
