One person killed in early morning shooting

Police Chief Randy Patrick said that Fedarius Lindsey, 25, has turned himself into custody. Lindsey will be charged with murder. His arraignment will be held at a later time.

Crime: Pound of marijuana discovered at traffic stop

A traffic stop on Chunky Duffee Road early Monday morning was far from routine, after the perceptive work by a deputy netted a significant find of marijuana.

Newton County Sheriff Joedy Pennington said the stop occurred around 1 a.m. Monday when a deputy noticed erratic driving.
