After an extensive search, Newton County Sheriff Joedy Pennington announced that Tayla Olivea Jackson, the suspect in an attempted murder case, is now in custody. The announcement comes after weeks of investigation and public appeals for information regarding Jackson's whereabouts.
Jackson, 18, became the focal point of a Newton County Sheriff's Office manhunt following a violent altercation on Feb. 5, where she was alleged to have shot another woman during a dispute at a residence on Newton Bethel Road.
The turning point in the case came late Wednesday night when the Forest Police Department apprehended Jackson at a residence in Forest. She was taken into custody around 11:30 P.M. and has since been transported back to Newton County, where she will face the charge of attempted murder.
