Dr. Jimmy Hollingsworth was recently installed as a Trustee of the American Dental Association for the 5th Trustee District at the annual meeting of the House of Delegates in Washington D.C. Dr. Hollingsworth was elected by the delegates of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia and will serve for four years on the American Dental Association Board of Trustees representing the three states. The Board is the managing body responsible for the business of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Hollingsworth is a graduate of East Central Community College, Mississippi State University, and UMMC School of Dentistry. He has practiced dentistry in Newton for 32 years and has been a career long member of the American Dental Association and the Mississippi Dental Association. He served as President of the Mississippi Dental Association for the 2015-2016 term and a delegate to the ADA representing Mississippi from 2016 until 2025. Dr. Hollingsworth also served on the ADA Council of Dental Benefit Programs from 2016-2020 and on the Council on Dental Practice from 2023-2025.
Dr. Hollingsworth is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists and a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, both organizations that recognize exceptional dental professionals.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Hollingsworth is deeply involved in his community. He has served on the East Central Community Board of Trustees for 22 years, with 14 of those as Chairman of the Board. He is a Past President of the Mississippi Association of Community College Trustees and a former member of the MSU Meridian Advisory Committee. He is also an active member and past president of the Newton Rotary Club and Newton Chamber of Commerce.
Recognized for his outstanding achievements, Dr. Hollingsworth was honored as the Alumni Fellow of the Year at Mississippi State University in 2011, representing the Meridian Campus. He received the distinction of UMMC School of Dentistry Alumni of the Year in 2020, a testament to his dedication and impact in the field of dentistry.
Outside of his professional and community engagements, Dr. Hollingsworth enjoys cooking, gardening, and playing the piano. He is married to Sharon Ezelle Hollingsworth, and they have one daughter, Abby, an attorney in Ridgeland.
