Services for Mr. E L Thorne were held 11 am, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Clarke Venable Baptist Church with burial in the Decatur City Cemetery. Rev. Mark Vincent officiated.
Visitation was held 10 am- 11 am, Saturday at Clarke Venable Baptist Church.
Mr. Thorne, age 94, of Decatur died Sunday, March 16, 2025.
He was employed with La-Z-Boy for over 40 years and served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean Veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie Thorne (Vickie) and Johnnie Thorne; one daughter, Emily Williams (Bruce); grandchildren, Alan Williams (Janetta), Anthony Williams (Elizabeth), Nolan Thorne (Katie), Charles Thorne (Bella), Nathaniel Thorne (Kirbi) and Nicole Clark (Christian); great-grandchildren, Alice, Eloise, Edith, Cadence, Greyson, Beckham, Patton, Sawyer and Shep; one brother, Curtis Thorne (Nancy) and one sister, Eva Jean Glenn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thorne is preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Hendrix Thorne; three brothers; daughter in law, Laura Thorne and his parents, Willie Thorne and Bessie Johnson Thorne.
Pallbearers were Alan Williams, Anthony Williams, Nolan Thorne, Charles Thorne, Nathaniel Thorne and Christian Clark.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangements.
