After making the semifinals of the NJCAA Division II World Series for the second straight season, it’s no surprise that several members of the East Central Community College baseball team are moving on.
The school recently announced that 12 members of the 2025 squad signed to play at the next level.
The Warriors sent five players to Division I programs, three to Division II programs and three to NAIA programs.
Headed to Memphis is Barrett Rodgers who led the Warriors in at-bats this season and hit .333 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 52 RBIs. He will be joined in Memphis by former Warrior Brady McAbee, who played in just 32 games and hit .327 with four home runs and 26 RBIs.
East Central will send two players to the University of Mobile in Jayden Adcox and pitcher Bryson Goff. Adcox played in all 60 games for the Warriors and hit .327 with 14 doubles, seven home runs and 49 home runs. Goff was the Warriors top pitcher this past season and led the team with 84.1 inning pitched and had a 9-1 record with 74 strikeouts, 47 walks and a 3.31 ERA.
Headed to Nicholls State is hard-throwing right-hander Chris Billingsley after posting an 8-3 record with a team high 92 strikeouts and a 3.47 ERA.
Hard-throwing right-hander Martin Lezcano, from Panama, is headed to the University of Texas-Rio Grand Valley. Lezcano, who was primarily a reliever, pitched 67.1 innings and was second on the team with 22 appearances. Lezcano had an 8-5 record with three saves, 88 strikeouts and a 4.14 ERA.
Sophomore Nic Arender will stay in state and head to NAIA William Carey. Arender played in all 60 games and hit .281 for the Warriors with 15 doubles, 47 RBIs and a team-high 45 walks.
Sophomore J.L. Lewis will head to Loyola in New Orleans. Lewis played in 57 games last season and hit .259 with eight doubles and 37 RBIs.
Eli Smith will head to the University of Mobile after playing 49 games and hitting .326 with seven doubles and 26 RBIs and 36 walks.
Hayden Dodson will head to Division II Delta State after pitching 22 1/3 innings and posting a 3.22 ERA.
Left-hander Riley Passman is headed to Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. Passman appeared in 18 games and pitched 15 1/3 innings and had a 4.69 ERA.
Pitcher Kamryn Carlisle will stay in-state is headed to Mississippi College. Carlisle pitched 51 innings and had a 5-2 record with 60 strikeouts and a 4.41 ERA.
