My name is Rebecca Burton. I am currently seeking re-election as Newton County Coroner.
I have served our great community as your elected Coroner since April of 2022 and deputy coroner the last five years. I have the experience, knowledge and compassion to help families through the most difficult days of their lives. I truly believe that I am the best qualified candidate for the position. It is my promise that I will continue to serve each decedent and family with the upmost dignity, compassion and respect.
I have over 500 cases of experience, and I hold the qualifications needed to serve. I have received Death Investigation Training Classes by Darren Dake. I am certified in Infant and Child Death Investigation, and I have received certified training In Medicolegal Death Investigation. I also hold the certification for the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Electronic Death Registration System.
Though the certifications and training are necessary to do the job, the way a coroner should respond during the most painful moment of a family’s life is something that cannot be learned in a classroom. It is something that comes from the heart of the individual.
As your Coroner, what I can promise is you will never have to go through the death of a loved one alone. I will be there to hold your hand, hug your neck and give you a shoulder to cry on. We will share memories of your loved one, and we will be family when I leave. I will give you and your family the utmost care, respect and compassion. I promise to be there every step of the way.
Being your Coroner means so much to me. Each family teaches me so much about life. To live each day to the fullest and always say I love you. Laugh at the little things and be humble, and never take a moment for granted.
I would appreciate your prayers, support and consideration when casting your vote on August 8th.
I humbly and prayerfully ask you to vote to Re-Elect Rebecca Burton for Newton County Coroner!
God bless!
