A Louisiana “Cajun” on Facebook expounded on the awful history of the Acadians, a minority group who came to Louisiana by way of Canada, from France. He explained many difficulties they had experienced, yet how the Spanish who owned Louisiana at the time welcomed them with open arms. He then made it personal, saying he would never treat a minority group the way the Cajuns had been refused and rejected in other areas.
Let’s examine differences in present-day situations. The Acadians did not come here from prisons, or mental hospitals, nor did they come with the plan to conquer the area they were settling, nor to use America’s welfare system, nor even to vote when not being qualified citizens. Instead, as the man speaking on Facebook pointed out, the Cajuns were hardworking contributors to society, obviously grateful for the chance to have a place to settle, raise families, and assimilate as lawful citizens in our country. I regret they had difficulties, even concerning their language. I enjoy my Cajun friends, some who are relatives by marriage, and their culture, especially food, music, and accents.
The difference, as I said above, is that one group of “illegal aliens” are now being tracked for criminal activities and deported, having broken the law by “invading” our country at a border which should have been closed and monitored more closely. Others have come in by the millions from Islamic countries. Islamic culture is not based on a peaceful religion. It is based on a violent, political “religion” founded by Mohammed, a warlord, who forced a conquering ideology anywhere Muslims settled, teaching Muslims through his Koran to kill unbelievers, called infidels, and to continue attempting to conquer the world, setting up a Muslim caliphate again.
Many people are questioning whether we should accept the set of laws the Muslims live by, called Sharia. To quote from an article online, “Understanding Sharia Law” by W. Ali, and M. Duss, “In the past year,…analysts have identified Sharia, or Islamic religious law, as a growing threat to the United States…” They “argue that the steady adoption of Sharia’s tenets is a strategy extremists are using to transform the United States into an Islamic state…Thirteen states are now considering the adoption of legislation forbidding Sharia.”
Actually, Sharia law is definitely not compatible with American laws, which were given from the beginning of this nation, taken from our Constitution with ideas found in the Bible. For example, the three branches of our government were taken from Isaiah 33:22, “For the Lord is our JUDGE, the Lord is our LAWGIVER, the Lord is our KING; He will save us.” The Judge represents the Judicial Branch; the Lawgiver represents the Legislative Branch; the King represents the Executive Branch. Leviticus 25:10, “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.” This is the verse inscribed on the Liberty Bell. George Washington used Micah 4:4 over 40 times to describe the blessings of liberty and private property.
A truly important quote is Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” This influenced the first American founders to see the need for a system of checks and balances to prevent any one person or branch from becoming tyrannical. Ben Franklin quoted Psalm 127:1 to urge delegates to the Constitutional Convention to seek divine guidance through prayer. “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”
