Though I have written about the soon return of Christ before, I realize there are many who are still skeptical. When I claim He is coming very soon, some say, “People have been saying that for generations!” Maybe so, but even back in the 20th century, people were seeing biblical prophecies being fulfilled, harbingers of other things that were promised to happen within a short time. Some may also question why I am so concerned that people understand that He really is coming back to this earth soon. Why does it matter?
In many passages of holy scriptures, Jesus warned of the validity of these events. Why is it dangerous to be ignorant of these messages from our Creator/Savior God? He has written in the pages of “holy writ” many wonderful truths of the future, but it also includes warnings of events that could be devastating to His image-bearers if we are not careful and aware. Please do not trust that you will just miraculously be told at the last moment in time to do something that would save you eternally. God has revealed the future in great detail in the most valuable book that has ever been written.
I determined to write about prophetic signs that have been or are being fulfilled; therefore, I looked up some scholarly opinions and proofs. Most scholars will include at the top of their list the state of Israel becoming a nation in 1948, after having been out of the land for almost 2000 years. Jonathan Cahn, a popular writer of books like The Harbinger, listed that fact concerning Israel, then of Jerusalem being taken by the Israeli Defense Forces in the Six-Day War of 1967. He explains how the Apostasy, or the “falling away” of Christians is definitely happening, which was prophesied in II Thessalonians 2:3 to occur before the Man of Sin is revealed. This is the world ruler who will demand to be worshiped and who will also decree that people must have his “mark” in order to buy and sell–in other words, to survive physically and economically. That is one of the most vital reasons for discovering where we are on the prophetic timeline, as God declares the penalty for obeying the antichrist is eternity in the lake of fire.
Joel Rosenberg chose to explain how passages from Ezekiel 36-37 have been fulfilled recently. Most “prophecy watchers” are expecting Ezekiel 38 to take place very soon, and some even believe we are in the beginning of that war at present. In Dr. David Jeremiah’s The Book of Signs, he breaks up his chapters into Parts 1-5, “International Signs,” “Cultural Signs,” “Heavenly Signs,” “Tribulation Signs,” and “End Signs.” He refers to the signs as “warnings,” which again reminds me of Jesus’s words in Matthew 24:4; Mark 13:5; and Luke 21:8, where He says, “Be not deceived…”
In his sermon “The Last Rapture Sign Just Appeared,” Pastor John MacArthur zeroed in on Israel at first then went on to describe the “spiritual climate” surrounding these last days, the mystery of lawlessness. He says, “The world is shaking its fist at the Creator and saying, ‘We’ll decide what’s right and wrong, We’ll define truth on our own terms.” He goes on to explain: “God says, ‘Male and female;’ man says, ‘There are 100 genders.” “God says, ‘Life is sacred.’ Man says, ‘Kill the unborn and call it healthcare.’ God says, ‘Marriage is between a man and a woman.’ Man says, ‘Redefine it and mock it openly.’ He declared, “This is the way it was prophesied to be right before the man of sin is revealed.”
Other statements connect with further biblical prophecies, such as the fact that Jesus said our last days would be as the days of Noah, which included globalized rebellion, violence and trouble sweeping the world and rampant immorality. There have even been signs in the sky on Jewish feast days. Also, the Euphrates River is drying up, just as the Book of Revelation has foretold. There is much more. Check it out!
