The state’s electorate will be tasked with electing their next Federal representatives in the upcoming 2026 elections as the Primary Election is set for March 10.
With the election just under six weeks away, Newton County ballots will give voters the opportunity to vote for United States Senator and United States House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District, with both incumbents running to keep their seats.
In 2026, Newton County constituents will be casting their votes in the following two federal contests:
U.S. Senate
Incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith will face Sarah Adlakha in the republican primary, while the democrat primary ticket gives voters a choice between Albert R. Little, Scott Colom, and Priscilla W. Till.
Ty Pinkins, running as an independent, will face off with democratic and republican primary winner in the general election on Nov. 3.
U.S. House of Representatives Congressional District 3
Running unopposed in the primary, Republican incumbent Michael Guest and Democrat Michael Chiaradio will meet in the General Election, along with Libertarian candidate Erik Kiehle.
Voter Registration
To vote in the Primary Election, you must be 18 years of age and registered to vote or have completed a voter registration by Feb. 9. All mail-in registrations must be postmarked by Feb. 9. To register in person, go to the Circuit Clerk’s Office, located at the Newton County Courthouse, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. If you can’t make it during the work week to register, the Circuit Clerk’s office will be open on Saturday, Feb. 7, for those who would like to register in-person.

Absentee Voting Opens
Absentee ballots are now available at the Circuit Clerk’s office at the Newton County Courthouse. If eligible, the last day to vote in-person absentee is March 7. All mail-in ballots must be postmarked on or before election day (March 10).
For those who can’t make it to the Circuit Clerk’s office during the work week, the office will be opened for absentee voting on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 7.
