The good news just keeps rolling in for Sebastopol’s Adarius McDougle.
Last week, McDougle learned that he had been selected to play in the Bernard Blackwell North-South All-star game after initially being left off of the team.
The on Thursday, McDougle was selected as the Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year after being selected as the Class 2A Mr. Football.
Also representing the Bobcats was senior Erik Pullin, who was selected as a second-team offensive lineman.
Several other area players were also selected to the Class 2A football team.
From Newton, wide receiver De’Traun Brown was named a first-team receiver. Also on the first-team offense is Union junior offensive lineman Jacob Freeman. Union senior wide receiver Mason Tucker was picked as a second-team wide receiver for the Yellowjackets, as well. On defense, Union’s Omarii Holliday was a first-team defensive back after a standout season while junior Aiden Davis was a second-team defensive lineman.
Also on the defensive side, Lake’s Ny’Zavion McClendon was named as a first-team linebacker while teammate Jamarrion Blaylock was named a second-team linebacker.
Newton County
The Cougars placed two players on the Class 4A all-state team, both being named to the first-team defense as specialists. Punter Landon Huber and long snapper Collier Mangum were named first-team selections. Both players were also selected to play in the Bernard Blackwell North-South All-star game this week.
Newton County Academy
The MAIS also released their All-MAIS football teams on Monday. The Generals had five players make the Class 2A team. On offense, quarterback Ty Thrash was selected as an all-purpose play while Ethan Woodham was selected as an offensive lineman. On defense, the Generals placed three players on the squad. Leading the way was linebackers Logan Usry and Cooper Savell along with defensive lineman Amos Castillo.
