The schedule didn’t get any easier for Newton County Academy last week.
The Generals dropped their sixth straight game, falling to Winona Christian 44-0.
The Generals are now 0-6 on the season and will host Amite on Friday night, a team they beat 16-0 last year.
NCA coach Arnie Oakes said the Generals faced another really good football team on Friday night.
“They are really sound and have a lot of speed,” Oakes said. “They just do things really well. We moved the ball al little bit and then we would have a bad snap or a fumble. I went to Winona with 13 players and lost one of my linemen at halftime and played the second half with 12 players. It’s a tough situation when you go with less than 15 players.”
The Stars got the ball to start the game and wasted little time as they marched down the field and scored on a 35-yard pass from John White to Dalton Wiggins. The PAT failed and Winona led 6-0 early.
The Stars went to the air again on their next possession as White hit Wiggins on a 32-yard touchdown pass. Steele Mims hit the PAT and Winona led 13-0 midway though the first quarter.
The Stars continued to pour it on as Blake Cooper got in on the scoring with a 48-yard touchdown run. Mims booted the PAT and Winona led 20-0.
The Stars finished off the quarter as White hit Scott Walters on a 19-yard pass. The PAT failed and Winona led 26-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Stars added two more scores in the first half as White threw a 48-yard pass to Cooper. The PAT failed and Winona led 32-0.
The Stars finished off their first half scoring as Bradley Pinkard scored on a 13-yard run. The PAT failed and Stars led 38-0 at the half.
With a running clock in the second half, Winona Christian coach Junior Graham emptied his bench on homecoming night. The Stars added one last score as Jacob Mann scored on a 73-yard run in the fourth quarter for the final of 44-0.
The Stars had 205 yards rushing on 18 carries and 149 yards passing for 354 yards of total offense.
Newton had just 30 yards rushing on 39 carries.
Lawson Reeves had an interceptions for NCA, while Colby Hollingsworth had a fumble recovery.
