The Newton Tigers stayed winless as they dropped a 44-0 decision to Bay Springs on Friday night.
Newton falls to 0-8 on the season and will host Scott Central on Friday night for Senior night.
Newton got the ball to start the game and went three and out.
Bay Springs then needed just two plays to go 51 yards and scored on a 6-yard run with 8:28 left in the first quarter. The try for two failed and Bay Springs led 6-0.
Newton then put together an 11-play drive before they turned the ball over on downs at the Bay Springs 29. The Bulldogs then went 71 yards in 10 plays and scored on a 1-yard run with 7:20 left in the second quarter. The try for two was good and the Bulldogs led 14-0.
After a Newton interception, Bay Springs went 52 yards in four plays and scored on a 3-yard run with 3:40 left in the half. The try for two was good and Bay Springs led 22-0, a score that held until halftime.
Bay Springs got the ball to start the second half and pulled away with a trio of big plays. The first was a 36-yard pass to go up 30-0 with 10:23 left in the third. The second was a 25-yard run after a Newton interception with 8:22 left in the third to go up 36-0.
The last score was a 39-yard touchdown pass with 1:52 left in the third to take a 44-0 lead.
Dmata Johnson led the Tigers with 14 tackles while Jimare Kincaid had 11 tackles. Jalis Hughes had seven tackles while Sedrick Harris, Jamarcus Holder, Jamarion Brown and Detraun Brown each had six tackles. Jamarcus Hornsby had four tackles while Daishon Moncrief, Odell Williams, Allen Roberts, Jamarcus William and Chris Everette each had two tackles. Kincaid also forced a fumble.
