The Newton High School Class of 2024 were treated to their Annual Senior Brunch last week, just days prior to their graduation ceremony. The Luau-themed breakfast was expertly hosted by the schools dedicated teachers, staff, and Principal Sonya Chapman.
This annual event celebrates the upcoming graduating seniors and gives them words of encouragement for the future. This year’s traditional breakfast featured recent alumni Jauquan Snow (2016 graduate), Koreon Baylor-Poole (2015 Valedictorian), and Paris Tierra Nichole Payne (2016 graduate). Each of the guests, embodying the spirit and success of Newton High School alumni, provided both inspiration and guidance to the soon-to-be graduates. Their stories, filled with accomplishments and challenges, highlighted the diverse paths one can take post-graduation, reinforcing the value of perseverance and community support.
Immediately after the breakfast, the Class of 2024 ended the celebration with a final walk of goodbye at the elementary and middle school.
NMSD Superintendent Glenda Nickson and Principal Chapman are extremely proud of the Class of 2024. With a class composed of only 44 Scholars, they produced over 2.1 million dollars’ worth of scholarships.
