INVITATION FOR SEALED BIDS
Sixteenth Section Public School Trust Lands - Forest
The Board of Education of the Newton County School District, as trustee of sixteenth section lands for Newton County, Mississippi, hereby gives notice that sealed bids will be received for the lease of the following described real property, held in trust for the support of public education.
Legal description: Section 16, Township 7N, Range 12E, Newton County, Mississippi, approx. 112 acres, more or less.
Use classification: Hunting and Fishing Rights consistent with applicable statutory classification.
Sealed bids will be received until 10 o’clock A.M (Local Time), on Friday, December 5, at the office of the Superintendent of Education at 15935 Hwy 15, Decatur, MS 39327, after which the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the monthly meeting of the Board.
Bids must specify the annual rental per acre (for acreage leases) or the total annual rental for the tract, in advance, and must be accompanied by the first year’s rental (and any required bid deposit) as stated in the bid instructions. There is a minimum bid of $10.00 per acre. The form of the lease, the bid packet, the full terms and conditions, and the legal description of the property are on file for inspection in the office of the Superintendent of Education, 15935 Hwy 15, Decatur, MS 39327, during normal business hours.
Please note: The office of the Superintendent will be closed the week of November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to accept the highest and best bid consistent with trustee obligations and the right of the current lessee (if applicable) to match the high bid per statute.
All leases are subject to approval by the Mississippi Secretary of State, acting as supervisory trustee of sixteenth section lands.
