East Central Community College's Scott Hill announced his retirement and will step down from the helm of the ECCC golf team after a historic season on the links.
"I am so appreciative to have been able to return to my alma mater, East Central Community College, and work for the last 21 years. It has been a blessing to my entire family," Hill stated. "What makes East Central such a special place is the people and I am retiring with so many great memories of those I have had the opportunity to coach, teach, as well as work with!"
Hill, originally from Forest, has had an extensive teaching and coaching career at ECCC, including nine years as the Lady Warrior Softball head coach where he led the Lady Warriors to the program's first NJCAA Region 23 title and a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II World Series, before following that historic year with the program's first MACJC State Championship in 2011, NJCAA Region 23 runners-up, and a fifth-place finish in the NJCAA Division II World Series. Along with his coaching duties, Hill has served as a full-time instructor in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation department.
Hill served as an assistant golf coach under head coach Chris Clark and took over the head coach role after Clark's sudden passing in 2022. In 2024, Hill led the Warrior golf team to one of the most successful seasons in program history as the team earned a trip to the NJCAA DII National Tournament in Joplin, Mo.
"I have enjoyed each role from coaching softball, to becoming a full-time instructor, to now serving as golf coach the past three years," said Hill. "It was my honor to step in and follow my good friend and former golf coach, the late Chris Clark, and this year the young men of this golf team worked extremely hard and for their fine play throughout the year, were rewarded a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament and finished with a top 10 ranking nationally."
Hill is married to the former Melisa Polk of Brandon, and they have two sons, Joel and Lee.
