As graduation approaches, Rileigh and I have featured our fellow seniors throughout the past few weeks; however now, we’re coming to an end on our term as writers and students at UHS. Due to my acceptance into the Associates Degree Nursing Program, I plan to attend East Central Community College to pursue a degree in Nursing before getting my bachelor’s degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
My passion for healthcare began in my health science classroom, taught by Shannon Harrison. Throughout my high school career, Mrs. Harrison has not only been my health science teacher, but also my role model. My small class allowed me multiple opportunities, such as serving as the Mississippi HOSA State President, interning at medical clinics and hospitals, obtaining a full-tuition Career and Technical Education scholarship, etc. I not only participated in the HOSA club at Union High School, but also the BETA and FCA club. I also participated in the Pride of Union Marching Band as a color guard member.
My favorite memory at Union High School was spending countless days as an office worker, helping out and visiting all my favorite teachers. Union High School has allowed me to find confidence within myself. I will always hold this small close-knit school in a special place in my heart. I have made countless friends and opportunities throughout my time at UHS.
To my lowerclassmen, always keep God first while sparkling through every moment! I’m forever thankful for my co-writer, Rileigh, who hates the spotlight, but shines through her hard work, passion, and creativity. Thank you to everyone for always reading my articles and supporting me in all of my endeavors. Sincerely, Kallie Kate Parker.
