It was a light week on the hardwoods for the Newton County basketball teams.
Newton County only got in one game last week as they fell 43-30 to Terry.
The County boys were not scheduled to play last week.
Newton County was scheduled to play in the East Central Tournament on Monday and Tuesday of last week but that was cancelled. County will return to play on Friday and Saturday at the Neshoba Central Shootout. They will then play at Leake Central on Monday, Dec. 30 and then host Choctaw Central on Friday, Jan. 3 in division play.
Terry girls 43, Newton County 30
The Lady Cougars fell behind early and weren’t able to battle back as they dropped a 13-point decision.
Terry jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first period while County took the second period 11-9 and trailed 20-14 at the half. Terry continued to extend the lead in the second half as they outscored County 12-9 in the third and 11-7 in the fourth.
Shae Jimmie led Newton County with 12 points while Dazlie Tubby and Felisia King each had six points apiece.
