It was nothing but wins and runs for the Lake softball and baseball teams last week.
The Lake baseball team won four games last week, beating Forest 5-0 on Monday and then taking two from Bay Springs on Friday, winning 16-0 and 17-1 on Friday. On Saturday, Lake beat Forest 17-3.
The Lake softball team beat Nanih Waiya with a dramatic 14-13 walk-off win and then beat Bay Springs 11-5.
Lake baseball
On Monday, Lake blanked Forest 5-0. Lake scored two in the third and fourth innings with eight hits. Aiden Dilly was 3-for-3 with a double while Kasen Tune was 2-for-3. J.D. Gibson also scored two runs. Tune itched all seven innings and scattered four hits while striking out 10 in just 84 pitches.
Lake opened division play on Friday, taking two games from Bay Springs. In the first game, Lake won 16-0 after a 13-run second inning. Lake had 10 hits, led by Wes Nester who was 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs. Trey Gray and J.D. Gibson were each 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Wyatt Bell started and pitched three innings without giving up a hit or walk while striking out five.
In the second game on Friday, Lake won 17-1 after a 13-run first inning. Lake had nine hits, led by J.D. Gibson who was 3-for-3. Griffin Boles singled and drove in three runs while Austin Watson singled and drove in four runs. Brody Bufkins started on the mound and pitched two innings and gave up one run on three hits.
On Saturday, Lake beat Forest won 17-3. Lake scored four in the second, fourth and fifth to win by the run rule. Lake had 11 hits, led by Wes Nester who was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Wyatt Bell was 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Andrew Posey was 2-for-4. Griffin Boles also doubled and drove in three runs while J.D. Gibson walked three times and scored four runs.

Lake won its fifth straight game as they beat Nanih Waiya 14-13 on Monday and Bay Springs 11-5 on Thursday.
On Monday, Lake got a walk-off three-run home run from Adyson McKnight to take a 14-13 win over Nanih Waiya. Lake led 6-5 after four innings while Nanih Waiya scored three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Lake finished with two in the fifth and three in the sixth and seventh. Lake had 20 hits in the contest, led by Jacey Wells who was 4-for-4 with a double while McKnight was 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Ceely Graham was 3-for-4 with a double while Alyssa Sockey, Kinsley Woods, Alaina Alford, Daelyn Earls and Amaure’i Jones each had two hits apiece. Wells started and pitched the first three innings while Earls pitched the next three innings. Alford also pitched the last inning and got the win.
On Thursday, Lake took an 11-5 win over Bay Springs in division play. Lake scored four in the third and finished with three in the fifth and sixth. Lake had 10 hits, led by Amaure’i Jones who was 3-for-4 with a double. Kinsley Woods was 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs scored while Adyson McKnight was 2-for-4 with two doubles. Alaina Alford pitched all seven innings and gave up five unearned runs on two hits while striking out 12.
Union will return to action this week as they plat west West Harrison on Friday and then host Union on Saturday.
