Two long-time rivals will square off on Friday night in a game with playoff implications when Newton County travels to rival West Lauderdale.

West Lauderdale is 3-2 on the season with wins over Seminary (40-14), Morton (28-27) and Philadelphia (35-6). They have losses to Neshoba Central (27-20) and Union (28-14).

Lake at Newton: Hornets rush past Tigers 38-14 in division opener

The Lake Hornets found their rushing attack last week as they opened division play.

The Hornets ran for 346 yards and took a 38-14 win over Newton last week.

Lake improves to 3-3 on the season and will host Puckett on Thursday night while Newton falls to 1-5 on the season and will host Pelahatchie on Thursday night.
