Toretha Carollynn Kidd Norman was born February 4, 1971 and God called her home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. She joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church August 1980 and was a lifetime faithful member. She was active with the Mass choir and the Praise Team Singers. She was active with Sunday School and as a Vacation Bible School teacher. She introduced and directed Praise and Mime Dancing to the youth and young adults at Shiloh M.B. Church.
Toretha was raised in the home of her Grandparents, Robert and Willie Mae Ardd. She was preceded in death by Robert and Willie Mae Ardd and by one uncle Rev. Thomas Ardd.
Toretha attended Newton Municipal School District where she graduated in the class of 1989. She also graduated from East Central Community College. Some of her work experiences were with formerly East Central Miss. Credit Union, Newton, Piggly Wiggly Newton, cake decorator/Deli Manager, Winn Dixie Meridian, cake decorator, and currently Newton High School, Assistant Secretary and was most famous for baking delicious and decorating beautiful wedding, birthday, anniversary cakes and cupcakes-the owner operator of Toretha’s TeeCakes.
On March 18, 1995, Toretha (Kidd) Norman was united in Holy Matrimony to Nobel Norman. To this union one child (DeOttis) was born.
Toretha, a loving mother, leaves to cherish her memories a son, DeOttis Eugene Norman and her mother, Nancy Darlene Kidd Smith (Carl) who loved her dearly. Toretha was like a sister to Margaret (Henry) Booth, Karen (Kenneth) Harris, Janice (Tracy) Glass, Terry Wayne (Barbara) Ardd, and Brenda Wragg all of Newton, MS. Toretha was called Aunt Resa by Kevin Harris, Kirby Harris, Travis Glass, Makayla Glass, Vivica Ardd, Brianna Ardd, Brandon Booth, Tyteanna Wragg and Steven Wragg, Jr. She was a God mother, a special friend, a special cousin and a relative and friend to many.
Services were held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh M.B. Church in Newton, MS with Pastor JR Jennings officiating. Interment was at Shiloh M.B. Church Cemetery.
