The Lake Lady Hornets had another good week on the hardwoods, picking up three wins and the Scott County Tournament trophy.
After opening the week with a 49-40 win over South Pike in the Newton Tournament, Lake beat Scott Central 49-22 in the semifinals and Morton 34-30 in the finals to win the tournament.
Lake will get a stern test on Tuesday as they travel to Newton and will return home on Friday as they host Nanih Waiya.
Lake girls 34, Morton 30
The Lady Hornets pulled away in the fourth period to take a four-point win over the Lady Panthers in the finals of the Scott County Tournament on Saturday at Sebastopol.
Each team scored seven points in the first period and Morton outscored the Lady Hornets 11-4 to take an 18-11 lead at the half. Lake returned the favor in the third period and outscore Morton 11-4 to tie the game at 22-22 going to the fourth. Lake then outscored Morton 12-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Tra’Shaylah Wilson led Lake with 15 points while Laneisha Palm had nine points.
Lake girls 49, Scott Central 22
The Lady Hornets started fast and cruised to a 27-point win over the Lady Rebels on Friday at to Scott County Tournament.
Lake started hot and outscored Scott Central 21-4 in the first and 12-10 in the second to lead 33-14 at the half. Lake continued to extend its lead in the second half as they outscored Scott Central 9-6 in the third and 7-2 in the fourth.
Brooklyn Harris led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points while Kaliauna Jones had eight points. T.Lea Hunt, Laneisha Palm and Lyric Lay each had seven points apiece while Kalis Odom had six points.
Lake girls 49, South Pike 40
The Lady Hornets were strong in the middle two periods and took a nine-point win over the Lady Eagles.
Lake led 14-13 at the end of the first and outscored South Pike 10-6 in the second to lead 24-19 at the half. Lake extended the lead in the third, outscoring South Pike 12-5 to lead 36-24. South Pike took the fourth period 16-13 for the final margin.
Laneisha Palm led Lake with 19 points while Tra’Shaylah Wilson had 17 points.
