In the famous words of the recently departed singer Meatloaf “Two Out of Three Ain’t bad.”
Both Sebastopol basketball teams won two of three games this past week, with both wins being division wins.
The Lady Bobcats took control the division race with a 55-41 win over French Camp and then followed that up with a 65-35 win over Ethel. The finished the week with a tough 66-54 loss to Class 4A Newton County.
The Bobcats had a similar kind of week as they beat French Camp 42-38 and Ethel 53-40. They lost to Newton County on Saturday 64-55.
Sebastopol has a pair of home games this week as they host Leake County on Tuesday and will then host McAdams on Friday night.
Sebastopol girls 55, French Camp 41
In a division showdown for the top seed, the Lady Bobcats was strong in the middle two period and took a 14-point win over the Lady Panthers on Tuesday.
Each team scored 11 points in the first period while Sebastopol outscored French Camp 18-13 in the second to lead 29-24 at the half. The Lady Bobcats then extended the lead in the third period and outscored the Lady Panthers 20-11 to lead 49-35 going to the fourth. Each team scored six points in the fourth for the final margin.
Kylee Madden led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points while Cyrish Maqculang, Alana Gunn and Lakayla Williams each had 11 points apiece. Hadley Thrash also chipped in six points.
Sebastopol boys 42, French Camp 38
The Bobcats opened an early lead but had to pull away late to take a four-point win over the Panthers on Tuesday.
Sebastopol jumped out to a 14-5 lead in the first period but French Camp outscored the Bobcats 15-11 in the second and trailed 25-20 at the half. French Camp outscored Sebastopol 10-5 in the third to tie the game at 30-30 going to the fourth. Sebastopol then outscored French Camp 12-8 in the fourth to take the win.
Kenyon White led Sebastopol with 16 points while Luke McGarrity had eight points. Jacob Williams and Keon Triplett each had seven points apiece.
Sebastopol girls 65, Ethel 35
The Lady Bobcats started hot in both halves and cruised to a 30-point win over the Lady Tigers on Friday.
Sebastopol jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first period and led 32-18 at the half. The Lady Bobcats put the game away in the third as they outscored the Lady Tigers 19-0 to lead 51-18 going to the fourth. Ethel took the fourth period 17-14 for the final margin.
Kylee Madden had a huge game with 32 points while Alana Gunn had 17 points. Kagan Wiscus, Lamissy Hicks and Lakayla Williams each had four points apiece.
Sebastopol boys 53, Ethel 40
The Bobcats used a big second period to build a first-half lead and take a 13-point win over the Tigers on Friday.
Ethel led 10-9 at the end of the first period before Sebastopol outscored the Tigers 17-3 in the second to take a 26-13 lead. Ethel outscored Sebastopol 17-15 in the third but the Bobcats took the fourth period 12-10 for the final margin.
Luke McGarrity led Sebastopol with 24 points while Kenyon White and Jacob Williams each had 11 points apiece.
