The Newton County girls picked up a big win last week and went into overtime in another one as they finished out the regular season.
The Lady Cougars beat Richland 62-25 and dropped a 48-44 overtime loss to Quitman.
The Cougars dropped both of their contest last week, falling 65-43 to Richland and 58-38 to Quitman.
The Newton County girls finished as the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 3 seed Northeast Jones on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Newton County boys will also play on Tuesday at 6 p.m. as they take on Northeast Jones as well.
County girls 62, Richland 25
The Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Rangers in every period as they cruised to a 39-point win.
County jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first period and outscored Richland 15-11 in the second to lead 34-17 at the half. County continued to put the game away in the second half, outscoring Richland 20-4 in the second and 10-4 in the fourth.
Malice Williams led County with 15 points while Hannah McDougle had 14 points. Alyssa McMullan had 10 points while Remini Nickey added six points.
Richland boys 65, County 43
The Rangers dominated the first half and cruised to a 22-point win over the Cougars.
Sebastian Johnson led Newton County with 12 points. Dresen Jimmie with eight points while Zarius Johnson and Rob Billy each had seven points apiece.
Quitman girls 48, County 44
The Lady Panthers needed overtime as they took a two-point win over the Lady Cougars last week.
County outscored Quitman 15-4 in the third period to take a 36-23 lead going to the fourth. But Quitman forced overtime and outscored the Lady Cougars 9-4 in the fourth to take the win.
Hannah McDougle led Newton County with 13 points while Alyssa McMullan had 10 points and Kelcia Thomas added eight points.
Quitman boys 58, County 38
The Panthers outscored the Cougars in every period as they took a 20-point win.
Dresen Jimmie led Newton County with 13 points while Dason King had eight points and Kyren Wansley had six points.
