The Union Lady Yellowjackets are within one win of making it back to the Mississippi Coliseum.
The Lady Yellowjackets used a stingy defense as they grabbed two wins last week, beating Seminary 55-29 on Monday and West Marion 37-22 on Friday.
Union will host Jefferson Davis County on Friday night at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the Class 3A semifinals in Jackson.
Union girls 37, West Marion 22
The Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Lady Trojans in every period as they cruised to a 15-point win.
Union led 10-7 at the end of the first and outscored West Marion 13-6 in the second to take a 23-13 lead into the half. Union continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring West Marion 10-6 in the third and 4-3 in the fourth.
Kamiya Russell led Union with 22 points while Madison Buckley had 11 points.
Union girls 55, Seminary 29
The Lady Yellowjackets advanced to the second round of the Class 3A playoffs as they took a 26-point win over the Lady Bulldogs.
Union raced out to a 22-2 lead in the first period and outscored Seminary 10-8 in the second to lead 32-10 at the half. Union then outscored Seminary 16-3 in the third and 7-6 in the fourth to take the win.
Kamiya Russell led Union with 15 points while Madison Buckley had 12 points. Keirra Russell had nine points while Georgia Cooper had six points.
