At the Oct. 14 Newton County School District Board Meeting, NC Superintendent Brooke Sibley presented NC Athletic Director Bobby Bass with the 2023-24 MHSAA Sportsmanship Award, a distinguished award earned by students participating in athletics and activities of Newton County High School.

MHSAA Football: Turnovers Plague Bobcats in Loss

So far this season, Sebastopol has taken care of the football.

But on Friday night, the Bobcats had four turnovers as Eupora held on late to take a 22-14 win over Sebastopol in a key 4-2A game on Friday night.

Lake football coach Tate Hanna was worried about Morton’s prolific passing attack heading into last week’s non-district contest.

He was right to be concerned.

The Panthers threw for 345 yards and four touchdowns to take a 34-14 win over the Hornets on Friday.
