Flip it around as I have. With my extra time I have written letters, made calls, used social media and sent cards to many friends and family I haven’t had time to catch up with in years.
It is wonderful to resume relationships and renew strong bonds. I did not realize how many really close bonds I had sacrificed over the years as I was so busy with the day- to-day grind.
I had also forgotten just how good it felt to receive a letter or card in the mailbox! It is a habit I plan to continue after we find our “new normal” and the blessing of Covid 19 is over.
Yes, I see it as a blessing because it has reminded us that people - loved ones - are the most important thing we have.
They make life worth living, give us the strength and courage to keep going in our darkest days, as well as someone to rejoice with in our greatest times.
This is our real net worth. Wealth comes from those that touch your heart and make your spirit soar. Not from all the things that must be paid for, cleaned, maintained and insured.
A paper and pencil are all I need to send and receive tons of love, smiles, laughter or even a few tears as I share the burdens of my family and friends.
Social reconnection is a grand thing.
