As the football season starts coming to an end, this week’s slate of games will go a long ways to determining playoff position for local teams.
Here’s a look at this week’s games:
Lake at Philadelphia
The Hornets will travel to Philadelphia this week in another key Division 5-2A contest.
The Tornadoes are 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in division play. The Tornadoes have wins over Raymond (35-34), Leake Central (40-39), Mize (42-22) and Nanih Waiya (40-16). Their losses are to Meridian (35-14), Winona (57-14) and West Lauderdale (55-20).
“They don’t look bad at all,” Lake coach Tate Hanna said. “They are always athletic and are going to be well coached. It’s going to be another tough game for us. They are going to be similar to Newton but run the ball a little better. They have always played us good. We got them my first year here but the last three years, they have gotten us. I expect it to be a good game if we play like we have the last two weeks.”
