The Sebastopol Lady Bobcats ran into a familiar foe in the Class 1A semifinals last week in the Stringer Lady Red Devils.
The Lady Red Devils swept the season series 6-4 and 3-0 and followed suit in the playoffs last week, winning 3-2 and 4-3 to advance to the 1A title game.
Sebastopol ends the season with a 23-9-1 record.
Stringer 3, Sebastopol 2
The Lady Red Devils built an early lead and held on to take a one-run win in game 1 of the series on Thursday.
Stringer scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth while Sebastopol answered with single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
Sebastopol had six hits in the contest, all singles. Annagrace Stewart was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases with a run scored while Dempsie McDill singled and scored. Georgi Gunn, Neely Wolverton and Rylee Burkes each singled.
Wolverton pitched all seven innings for the Lady Bobcats.
Stringer 4, Sebastopol 3
The Lady Bobcats lost another one-run game as they fell behind early for the second straight game.
Stringer scored one in the first and two in the fourth to go up 3-0. But Sebastopol answered with three runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3. Stringer then scored one run in the sixth for the final score.
Sebastopol had six hits in the contest. Georgi Gunn was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored while Rylee Burkes and Neely Wolverton each singled and scored a run. Callie Byram and Kaitlyn Wilson had Sebastopol’s other hits.
Wolverton started in the circle and pitched all six innings, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two.
