Union’s softball season came to a sudden ending on Saturday.
After beating Taylorsville 3-2 on Friday night, Union saw their season come to an end on Saturday, falling 11-0 and 12-0 to the Lady Tartars.
Union finishes the season with a 23-11 record.
Taylorsville 12, Union 0
The Lady Yellowjackets had just one hit as the Lady Tartars won in four innings in game 2 of the series on Saturday.
Taylorsville scored six in the first, five in the second and one in the fourth.
Anna Grace Blount had Union’s only hit.
Britli Cleveland started in the circle and gave up 12 runs on 10 hits and two walks.
Taylorsville 11, Union 0
The Lady Tartars didn’t give up a hit and used a big fourth inning to take the series win over the Lady Yellowjackets on Thursday.
Taylorsville scored one in the first and third and finished with nine in the fourth.
Wheeler pitched all four innings for Union, giving up 11 runs, only two earned on nine hits and six walks.
Union 3, Taylorsville 2
The Lady Yellowjackets grabbed an early lead and held on to take a one-run win over the Lady Tartars on Friday.
Union scored one in the first and two in the second while Taylorsville scored one in the third and fourth.
Union outhit Taylorsville 6-5 in the contest. Kaylee Holley was 2-for-3 while Alanee Wheeler had a double. Anna Grace Blount singled and drove in a run while Kenley Pullin singled and scored. Holley and Pullin each had two stolen bases.
Wheeler pitched all seven innings and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out six.
Union 9, St. Patrick 7
The Lady Yellowjackets overcame an early deficit and took a two-run win over St. Patrick to win the series on Tuesday.
St. Patrick scored four in the first and one in the second to lead 5-1. But Union answered with three in the third and four in the fourth to lead 8-5. St. Patrick scored two in the bottom of the fourth while Union scored one in the top of the fifth for the final margin.
Union outhit St Patrick 11-7 in the game. Alanee Wheeler was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Anna Grace Blount was 2-for-4 and scored two runs while Britli Cleveland was 2-for-4 with a double. Ashlynn Jenkins also doubled for Union.
Cleveland started and pitched four innings while giving up seven runs on seven hits. Wheeler pitched the final three innings without giving up a hit and striking out five.
Union 6, St. Patrick 0
The Lady Yellowjackets got a shutout pitching performance and took an game 1 win on Monday.
Union scored two in the first and third and then added single runs in the fourth and fifth.
Union had 11 hits in the contest. Anna Grace Blount was 3-fo-r3 with a double, triple and three runs scored. Alanee Wheeler was 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Jordan Turner was also 2-for-4.
Wheeler pitched all seven innings and scattered four hits and two walks while striking out nine.
