The East Central Planning and Development District/Area Agency on Aging will not hold a Public Hearing for Aging Programs due to the unfortunate crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, we would like to make the public aware of the goals and objectives for Fiscal Year October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021. Services are available for persons aged 60 and above in Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Smith Counties.
PROPOSED GOALS AND
OBJECTIVES FOR FY 2021
1. ADMINISTRATION AND OVERSIGHT:
Goal: To focus on activities which provide effective leadership and a distinct and definite direction for mandated Older Americans Act programs.
2. HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE:
Goal: To provide a comprehensive and coordinated system for the delivery of social, nutritional, supportive, access, and other services.
3. ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION & ADVOCACY & STATE LONG TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN:
Goal #1: To strengthen the effectiveness of elder abuse prevention and advocacy efforts on behalf of elders and State Ombudsman Program.
Goal #2: To maintain activities which make the AAA visible to targeted population.
Services that will be provided to the elderly includes congregate meals, home delivered meals, homemaking services, information and referral, outreach, transportation, ombudsman, legal assistance and respite.

State Goals
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you all for being so resilient in these uncertain times. Now more than ever the Aging community needs to stay connected with Long-Term Services and Supports. As the new SUA Director, my number one goal is ensuring that safety and health remains the top priority for the State Unit on Aging. Goals for the upcoming FFY are as follows:
Strengthen the aging network to enable partners to remain viable and sustainable and develop a robust network of aging service partners.
Ensure that long-term services and supports are provided to enable older Mississippians, their families, caregivers and persons with disabilities to fully engage and participate in their communities for as long as possible.
Ensure older Mississippians, persons with disabilities, caregivers and families have access to information about resources and services that are accurate and reliable.
