Lauderdale County authorities have charged a 31-year-old man with the shooting death of his wife over the weekend.
According to multiple media reports including the Associated Press, the Meridian Star and WTOK TV in Meridian, Truitt Thomas Pace, 31, of Brown Hooke Road near the Bailey community was arrested Friday night and charged with second-degree murder.
The victim was Marsha Danielle Pace, 34, who suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Mrs. Pace was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Authorities were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night in response to a domestic violence call. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, the victim was unresponsive.
Lauderdale County authorities told reporters that a child was at home at the time of the shooting but was not injured.
Mr. Pace’s bond was set at $100,000.
The suspect is a native of Newton County.
