JACKSON - The 160th Mississippi State Fair will kick off Wednesday, October 2, and run through Monday, October 14. Fairgoers will find 105 acres of fun and a mile-long Midway providing entertainment, fun and food sure to please those of all ages.
One of the fair’s largest draws is its annual concert series held in the Budweiser Pavilion. Steve Hutton, Mississippi State Fairgrounds Executive Director, is pleased to announce the line-up of great national, regional and local acts, which is included with admission to the fair.
In addition to the concerts in the Budweiser Pavilion, the 160th Mississippi State Fair, Mr. Hutton is pleased to announce that there will be 30 additional local performances on the Trustmark Stage next to the Biscuit Booth.
The MS Beef Celebrity Cook-off will take place Tuesday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trustmark Stage next to the Biscuit Booth. Baptist Health Systems & The Clarion Ledger will host Senior American Day in the Southern Beverage Pavilion on Wednesday, October 9, 9 am-12 noon. This year’s Senior American Day entertainment will include Dennis Swanberg, Voices of Mobile, and the Sassy Steppers. Vendor booths and flu shots will be included (if vaccine is available).
In addition to the great musical talent, fairgoers can visit the Farm Bureau Petting Zoo and Pig Races and be wowed by the circus performers of Joseph D Bauer’s Great American Thrill Show located on the Midway.
The Fetch and Fish Performance, sponsored by LOCALiQ, will take place in front of the Mississippi Trade Mart. Fair attendees can visit dozens of vendors located in the Mississippi Trade Mart, where they will also find Arts & Crafts Competition, Food Preservation, Floral Exhibits, Alpha Specialties Trailer Truck & Jeep Power Sports Expo and the Antique and Classic Car Show.
New to the Mississippi State Fair, will by the coolest place at the fair, the Ice Dome. The Ice Dome, located inside the Mississippi Coliseum will feature 8,000 square feet of clear glistening ice and 800 pair of skates. Skate all day for just $10. Fair goers can skate, take a break, go ride the rides and come on back to skate again! A special area for concessions and spectators to cool off will be available.
