The Newton County Academy baseball team won added two blowout wins to their resume last week by sweeping Laurel Christian in district play.
The Generals beat Laurel Christian 13-0 on Tuesday and 18-2 on Thursday to finish out the week.
NCA improves to 8-7 on the season and has three games on the schedule this week. They will play Lamar Christian in a two-game with game 1 in Decatur on Tuesday. Game 2 is set for Thursday at Lamar Christian. NCA will finish the week on Friday in a home game against Russell Christian.

Hitting: The Generals had seven hits, drew five walks and had six hit batters. Jackson Bunyard was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Taylor Burt was 2-for-2 and drew two walks. Logan Heidelberg singled, was hit twice, stole three bases and scored three runs while Marshall Wright was also hit twice.
Pitching: Steven Duke started on the mound and pitched all four innings for NCA, scattering two hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Hitting: The Generals banged out 12 hits and took advantage of five hit batters to take a run-rule win over Laurel on Thursday. Steven Duke was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBIs while Marshall Wright was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Ty Thrash was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and four RBIs while Taylor Burt was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Logan Hitt was 2-for-3 with a double while Jackson Bunyard singled and scored two runs. Vitaly Ferguson and Slayden Hollingsworth also scored two runs apiece.
Pitching: Hitt started on the mound for the Generals and pitched all three innings without giving ups hit but gave up two unearned run on one walk while striking out four.
