No. 11. Union wins Powerlifting again
The Union powerlifting team can add another state championship to the already impressive list.
The Yellowjackets captured the Class 3A title as they beat out Kossuth and Southeast Lauderdale at the state meet.
“I am so proud of the team for what they accomplished this year,” Union powerlifting coach Jay Cassell said. “It is a long season and they worked very hard through it all. There are so many strong competitors in the 3A class that we faced and defeated this year. We proved that hard work does pay off and we earned this championship. I’m just so happy for these boys, this school, and this community.”
Union finished with 45 total points as Carlos Hickman, Blane Cooper and Alec Pientowski each came home with individual state championships.
