Newton County, Union and Lake all picked up first-round wins on Saturday in first-round volleyball action.
Here’s a look at the three teams.
Union
Against Pearl on Monday, Union dominated with a 3-0, winning 25-11, 25-9 and 25-12.
On Tuesday, Union beat St. Andrew’s 2-0, winning 25-21 and 25-15. They followed that up with a 2-0 win over Newton County, winning 25-23 and 25-13.
On Saturday in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs, Union beat New Site 3-0, winning 25-12, 25-8 and 25-14.
Union improved to 30-7-1 on the season and will host Water Valley on Tuesday in a second-round playoff game.
Newton County
On Monday, Newton County beat Enterprise-Clarke 3-1.
On Tuesday, Newton County split a pair of games at Union, beating St. Andrew’s 2-0 before losing 2-0 to Union.
On Saturday, Newton County took an easy win over Itawamba AHS. The Lady Cougars won 3-0, winning 25-10, 25-7 and 25-9.
Newton County moves to 30-4-1 on the season and will host North Pontotoc on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a second-round playoff game.
Lake
Lake opened the Class 2A playoffs with a 3-0 win over Heidelberg, winning 25-6, 25-13 and 25-17 in straight sets.
Lake also lost 3-2 to Pisgah on Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets move to 17-9 on the season and will play Pisgah in second-round action on Tuesday.
