Lynda “Maxine” Sloan, age 78, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Decatur, Mississippi.
Born on December 5, 1946, in Newton County, Mississippi, Maxine lived a life marked. by devotion to her family and a deep care for those around her.
A proud graduate of Decatur High School in the Class of 1965, Maxine pursued her passion for beauty and style by earning her cosmetology license from East Central Junior College in Decatur. She went on to work in several beauty salons throughout her career, where she not only styled hair but also formed lasting friendships with many of her clients. Each person who sat in her chair held a special place in her heart.
In 2001, Maxine embraced a new chapter in life when she transitioned careers and began working at Pearl River Resort as a snack bar attendant. Her warm personality and nurturing spirit made her a beloved presence among coworkers and guests alike.
She was survived by a. son, Lynn Wall (Karen) of Longview, TX; three daughters, Lisa Norris of Union, Pam Parker of Decatur and Laura Blackwell of Union; eight grandchildren, Kelby Wall, Kirk Parker, Kelly Parker, Dillon Norris, April Brown, Kaleb Blackwell, Kameryn Nolan and Adalyn Clark; eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters, Joyce Moore (Doyle) of Lawrence, Barbara Boone of Conehatta and Sue Hicks (Cliff) of Enterprise.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, William Ezelle and Ima Jewel Hamil Ezelle; her first husband, Craig Blackwell; her second husband, Terry Sloan; a grandson, Kyle Parker; a granddaughter, Ashley Wall and an infant brother.
Known affectionately as “Momma” and “Granny”, Maxine found joy in caring for her loved ones. She cherished time spent with family and delighted in cooking for those she held dear. Her legacy is one of kindness and unwavering love. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
