Saturday came extremely close to being an event that would have pushed this country into a very scary place. And that’s saying something when you look at the political environment that we’ve been put through for the past 8 years.
First and foremost, I’m thankful that Donald Trump’s life was spared. And if the roles were reversed and it was Joe Biden whose life was spared, I’d be thankful as well. It’s inconceivable to imagine anyone with a sound mind wanting a man killed for his politics in America.
But it’s time we had a real talk in this country. How have we gotten to this point? Well, I don’t claim to be a “political analyst”, and to be honest I don’t really like writing about these things. But I feel there needs to be a balance when it comes to opinion pieces. And I’m also to the point that I’m sick of some of ridiculous talking points that I’ve seen out there from some media. So, let’s be real.
What led to Saturday’s event, where a former President and some innocent bystanders were wounded, and one man was killed protecting his family, is the delusional rhetoric aimed at President Trump by Democrats for the last 8 years. But it’s not just Democrats who are guilty. National media are just as guilty.
From Russian election inference to that absurd trial that occurred in New York just months ago, all these people that oppose Trump have tried their best to knock him out of his presidency and the political ring. But just like a Timex watch, the man keeps tickin’. His poll number have soared because, quite frankly, I think Americans are waking up to the lies.
The day that Trump put his hat in the ring for another presidential run, Democrats started back with the rhetoric. Before Saturday, they’ve done such things as compare him to Hitler and called him a fascist. Late last year, President Biden said that Trump and his “Make America Great Again” supporters are an “extremist movement” that would undermine the nations institutions. They’ve also said that if elected, Trump would go after his political opponents. Isn’t that rich? Where have I seen this movie? An even bigger question: Did we see any of this during his first presidency? No.
But the media, well they go right along with it. A true media is supposed to question and keep ALL politicians in check. Today’s media, they keep one side of the aisle in check.
No, I take it back. Since the first debate debacle, the media have questioned Biden and his staff a lot more because, pssst…. he’s got dementia. Which they, unlike everybody else in the country, “did not see” until the debate.
And then Saturday happened. And the media and the very same politicians said we’ve got to “tone down the rhetoric”.
We’ll see how that goes. I’ve already seen “whataboutisms” written blaming Trump for Saturday’s actions, and it’s just Tuesday.
