RIDGELAND, Miss. (AP) — A suburb of Mississippi's state capital has named a new police chief.
Ridgeland's Board of Alderman on Tuesday chose Brian Myers to lead the city's police department, WLBT-TV reported.
Myers previously served as a lieutenant and commander of the department's Criminal Investigations Division. He started his law enforcement career with the department and has served for 24 years.
Myers will replace John Neal, who recently announced his retirement effective June 30. He has spent more than 33 years in service to the department.
Ridgeland is about 12 miles (19 kilometers) northeast of Jackson.
