Antonio transitioned peacefully to his eternal home on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, a few days before his 48th birthday on Dec. 25 at his home in Union, Miss.
He attended Union High School and East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss. and a semester at Baker Community College in Flint, Mi. Antonio was a devoted member of Spring Hill M. B. Church in Union, where he played various instruments and made use of his vocal gifts. In 2016, Antonio accepted the call of God on his life into the ministry. He loved his church and community and always strived to make it safe and friendly place to live and visit. Antonio played drums and also sang with the Dawns of Faith Gospel Singers of Union for many years and The Junior Angels singing group in Newton, Miss. and helped to organize a few groups as well.
In 2006, Antonio established Tonio’s Detail Shop and operated in Union, Philadelphia and Decatur for a number of years, alternating between other jobs but always going back to what he loved best, his detail shop. He would always encourage the youth to try and do their best and to make something out of the life that God gave them. Antonio enjoyed and sought ways to help others through his ministry, his music and his business to make a difference and to give back to the community.
Antonio had a genuine love for God and wanted to please Him in everything he did. Family meant so much to Antonio and he always kept everyone laughing and smiling. Even though he had no children of his own, he especially doted on his nieces and nephews and was a strong presence in their lives.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparent, A. C. and Arnellist “Mert” Harris and Lawrence Rogers; maternal grandparents, Isaiah and Vera Mae Towner Patrick.
He is survived by his parents, Herman and Eva Rogers; siblings, Phoebe Jones and Jamaal (Kenya) Rogers of Union, Miss.; his beloved nieces and nephews, Kia (Brian) Gray of Newton, Miss., Jamarcus Jones, Jaylin Rogers, Kenyan Rogers, Jamaiya Rogers and Kendalyn Rogers, all of Union, Miss.; two great-nephews, Zayvion and Zakari Gray.
