The Newton County cross country teams got in one last meet before the Division 5-4A meet this week.
Both boys and girls team participated at the 2020 Watson High School meet on Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. The event was hosted by Mississippi College.
On the boys’ side, Isaac Frink finished 16th with a time of 18:34 and Cole Tadlock finished 17th with a time of 18:52.90. Finishing third for County was Davion Hillie who was 43rd with a time of 19:45.30 while Jesse Hillman was 59th with a time of 20:16.40.
Sebastian Johnson was 80th with a time of 20:49.50 to round out the scoring for Newton County. Ethan Terrell was 81st with a time of 20:53.20. Giovani Cervantes was 92nd with a time of 21:16.40.
Newton County finished eighth overall in the meet with 202 points while Corinth won the meet with 78 points. There were 187 total runners in the meet.
On the girls’ side, Ava Way was 23rd with a time of 23:18.30 while Josie Tullos was 39th with a time of 24:24.40. Marilyn Tullos was 46th with a tie of 24:41.30 while Kaitlyn Cutway was 71st with a time of 25.46.40.
Casey Dube was 74th with a time of 26:01 to round out the scoring for Newton County. Grace Wade finished 76th with a time of 26:06.40 while Hannah Chaney was 103rd with a time of 28:13.50. Skylar Balliet was 108 with a time of 28:38.80.
Newton County finished ninth overall in the team standing with a score of 205. Corinth won the team with an overall score of 31.
Both Newton County teams will now run in the Division 5-4A cross county meet on Wednesday at Choctaw trails at Mississippi College.
